Students may apply for various forms of financial support. These include social grants, grants for disabled students, Rector’s scholarships,scholarships for sports achievements, Rector’s grants for 1st-year students and foreign students pursuing their studies as scholars, grants of the Minister of Science and Higher Education for outstanding academic/artistic/sports achievements, as well as Rector’s awards. In the academic year 2018/2019 grants of the Minister of Science and Higher Education for outstanding achievements were awarded to two female students, one from the Faculty of Economics and Management, the other one from the Faculty of Education, Psychology and Sociology.
UZ offers accommodation in 6 halls of residence in Zielona Góra and 2 more at the UZ Branch Faculty in Sulechów. Two of these halls offer rooms adapted to the needs of people with motor disability.
Almost all buildings of the University are disabled-friendly and lecture halls are equipped with induction loops, which enable people with hearing loss to participate in the lectures. Thanks to the fact that the University is continuously adapting its infrastructure to the needs of disabled students, their number is growing and at present stands at several hundred people. The University of Zielona Góra ranks among the top three most disabled-friendly Polish universities.
At the University, all issues related to students with disabilities are taken care of by the Rector’s Plenipotentiary for the Disabled Students.
